Job Description

Overview

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

To provide technical support and maintenance for ICT systems and infrastructure, ensuring efficient operation, troubleshooting issues, and assisting users with hardware, software, and network-related needs to support the organisation’s digital operations.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• To assist in the coordination of projects, initiatives, and services provided by the Lands Authority and ensuring proper follow-up.

• To ensure that programs are being implemented according to plan and to inform the superior in cases of issues in this regard.

• Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, network devices, and peripherals.

• Support the administration of core IT systems, including servers, storage, and cloud-based solutions.

• Ensure IT operations align with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Identify opportunities for IT automation and digital transformation initiatives.

• Work with stakeholders to improve business processes through technology.

• Manage and track incidents and service requests using Lands Authority and MITA service desk systems.

• Maintain IT asset inventory and ensure proper lifecycle management of IT equipment.

• Assist in implementing security controls, user access management, and endpoint protection.

• Assist in the administration of network infrastructure, including network termination and port patching.

• Conduct periodic network performance checks and maintenance on both LAN and WIFI infrastructure.

• Support IT compliance initiatives in alignment with government regulations and internal policies.

• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and IT procedures.

• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new IT systems and software solutions.

• Provide training and guidance to employees on IT systems and best practices.

• Promote IT awareness and encourage the proper use of Authority-provided technology.

• Ensures that jobs are carried out within the shortest of time frames and assures the best quality procedures at the same time.

• Provides competent leadership to officers working within the section and secures their commitment and motivation and co-ordinates the proper setting up and leads the new subsections as required.

• Undertakes any other tasks, which the superior may delegate to him/her, as may be required.

• To keep adequate stock of required items.

• Coordinate with other Directorates and Units involved as necessary.

• To provide other general administrative support as required or requested.

GENERAL OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

• To take responsibility and ensure proper usage of any equipment used.

• To fully understand the Authority’s contractual obligations.

• To be familiar with the various Lands Authority regulations.

• To undergo and coordinate training as may be required from time to time.

• To receive and report any complaints or suggestions made.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

• To assist and ensure maximum efficiency in the overall aspects of this job.

• To assist in reaching the set goals and standards established by the Authority/Directorate.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

• To implement and lead communication plans directly or indirectly, including participation in various meetings.

• To establish an effective line of communication to ensure that Customer expectations both external and internal, are met.

• To take a proactive approach with Customers in terms of follow-ups.

Tasks and duties of the jobholder are not limited to the above listed and the employee may be required to assist other employees/departments and may be assigned duties within units/directorates other than other/different duties from time to time, as the need may be.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - The qualifications, experience, skills and other attributes required by the job holder.

Essential

• In possession of O-Level Qualifications (MQF level 3) in at least four (4) subjects, and two (2) years of relevant work experience.

AND/OR

• Four (4) years of relevant work experience in a similar position.

Skills

• Good knowledge of verbal and written communication in both Maltese and English is essential.

• Highly organized and efficient.

• Thinks and acts strategically.
