Job Title: Professional – Legal Procurator
Grade: Professional as per LA/GWU Collective Agreement for Professional & Managerial Grades Year 2025-2028
Basic Salary: €31,280
Allowances: €9,100 & up to 15% Performance Bonus
Unit: Legal Directorate
Report To: Direct Superior (as designated from time to time)
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Assist advocates in litigation before courts and tribunals of various levels by preparing documents, managing case files, and supporting legal proceedings.
- Work in close cooperation with the legal team and officers of the Authority, particularly with other legal staff within the assigned section and with staff across the Authority in general.
- Assist in the preparation and review of legal and notarial contracts, ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed and that deadlines are met.
- Liaise with notaries, legal advisers, and other professionals when necessary to facilitate legal processes and transactions.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on legal or procedural matters related to the Authority’s functions.
- Keep updated on local and international legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Authority’s regulatory role and responsibilities.
- Perform all legal work in accordance with the professional standards and ethical obligations of the legal profession.
- Ensure the Authority’s compliance with the provisions of the Lands Authority Act and other relevant local, EU, and governance requirements, while acting as a key source of legal guidance within the Authority.
- Demonstrate a proactive and supportive approach when assisting persons seeking the services of the Authority, ensuring that they receive the necessary information and assistance to obtain the required services.
- Conduct legal research as required by a Legal Officer or other senior officer within the same unit, in support of ongoing legal work or proceedings.
- Provide proactive advice on legislation and legal documentation, particularly those assigned within the scope of the procurator’s responsibilities.
- Carry out any other duties or tasks that may be assigned by a Senior Manager or other superior officer, in line with the needs and functions of the Authority.

- To report to the CEO and respective Chief Officer any shortcomings and suggest possible improvements and/or solutions.
- Promote a positive, professional and collaborative work environment.
- Achieve departmental objectives by providing leadership to the team and overseeing the planning, coordination, and evaluation of departmental activities.
Quality Assurance
- Consistently delivers work to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the expectations of the CEO and Chief Officer.
- To assist and ensure maximum efficiency on the overall aspects of this job.
- To assist in reaching the set goals and standards established by the Authority/Directorate.
Tasks and duties of the jobholder are not limited to the above listed and the employee may be required to assist other employees/departments and may be assigned duties within units/directorates other than other/different duties from time to time, as the need may be.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Candidates must be in possession of the following:
- In possession of a Higher Diploma of a Legal Procurator with a Warrant to practice in the Courts of Malta and Gozo,
OR
- In possession of a Higher Diploma of a Legal Procurator and, in the process of obtaining said warrant, to practice in the Courts of Malta and Gozo, and one (1) years’ experience working in the legal and notarial field.
Skills
- Proficiency in both Maltese and English is required (both written and verbal).
- Proficiency in standard business office software (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment.
